WPS named DAV’s 2022 Large Employer of the Year
MADISON, Wis.—Aug. 17, 2022- DAV (Disabled American Veterans), a nonprofit veterans organization founded in 1920, has named WPS Health Solutions, a Wisconsin-based not-for-profit health insurance company, its Large Employer of the Year. WPS Health Solutions was formally recognized Aug. 7 during the 2022 DAV and Auxiliary National Convention in Orlando, Fla.
“Like DAV, WPS Health Solutions began as a means to serve the many ill and injured soldiers returning from a world war,” DAV National Commander Andrew Marshall said. “By providing meaningful employment and opportunities to grow, WPS Health Solutions continues to support veterans of all generations. Beyond that, the company is a fierce advocate of veterans throughout their community and across the country. We are thrilled to recognize those efforts.”
WPS Health Solutions was founded in 1946 to meet the health care needs of returning World War II soldiers. Today, WPS is also a primary claims processor for TRICARE For Life and a subcontractor for the TRICARE East Region serving more than 8 million beneficiaries. For more than 75 years, the company has shown its dedication to military veterans through its recruiting initiatives, support groups and mentorship programs. The company was selected for the national-level honor over numerous other businesses with 1,000 or more employees.
In 2015, in an effort to enhance its recruiting and hiring of veteran candidates, WPS Health Solutions created a military affairs manager position to work closely with its Human Resource Talent Acquisition Team. The company also includes a veteran on its hiring panel when interviewing veteran candidates.
Once hired, veteran employees at WPS are set up for success with several resources. The Veterans Enhancement Team (VET) was created as an employee resource group for its roughly 100 veteran employees to build camaraderie. The group also serves as a mentorship resource and has implemented a companywide Meet our Veterans initiative.
“WPS Health Solutions knows first-hand that our veterans are an amazingly capable group of employees. The leadership skills, soft skills and ability to grow greatly benefit our company’s culture and success,” said Military and Veteran Inclusion Lead Timothy La Sage. “We are honored to support and mentor these employees and grateful for this recognition of WPS Health Solutions’ longstanding mission to serve those who served.”
WPS Health Solutions supports many veteran initiatives, including several state Honor Flights, the Green Bay Packers’ Operation Fan Mail program, Sierra Delta, Fisher House Wisconsin, Heat for Heroes, the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, and more.

The Creative Company’s Yips Yogurt Chips Video Awarded Bronze in Food & Beverage — Branded Content in 43rd Annual Telly Awards
MADISON, Wis. (July 7, 2022) — The Creative Company announced today the Director’s Cut of the Yips Yogurt Chips Video is the Bronze Winner in the Food & Beverage — Branded Content category in the 43rd Annual Telly Awards.
The winning visual content is a one-minute promotional video for a start-up food brand based in Madison, Wisconsin — Yips Yogurt Chips. The video features green screen special effects, motion design, and animation. It was filmed on location at The Creative Company at West Washington Place. Erin Vranas, Founder of Yips Yogurt Chips, wrote the script and created the vision. Then, she needed help bringing it to life.
That help came from The Creative Company’s Director of Cinematography, Tyler Grimh. He not only captivated an audience but informed viewers why the reinvention of Greek yogurt as a portable snack should be their next purchase.
“We were on a budget, naturally. We filmed this in one location and we used the green screen so we could add animation and visual effects easily,” Grimh said. “Erin is a natural and the Yips brand is alive with energy and flavor. I look forward to seeing them on every specialty food grocery shelf in America!”
“We went to The Creative Company to make this video for us, and it was an awesome experience,” Vranas said. “We had the best experience working with Tyler. This guy is on a whole other level with the magic he did with our video. I highly recommend The Creative Company, especially if you want an amazing brand video. They’re able to meet and exceed whatever you’re looking for. Do it!”
The Telly Awards honors excellence in video and television across all screens and is judged by leaders from video platforms, television, streaming networks, and production companies, including Adobe, Netflix, Dow Jones, A&E Networks, Hearst Media, Nickelodeon, ESPN Films, and Vimeo.
“Now, more than ever, it is necessary to celebrate video work that reflects the top tier of our industry, such as The Creative Company,” Telly Awards Executive Director Sabrina Dridje said. “This year’s submissions reflect an industry that has returned to the important work of storytelling, one that has returned with a new perspective that values innovation, agility, equity, and tenacious creativity.”
Last year, The Telly Awards attracted more than 12,000 entries from top video content producers, including Netflix, HBO Latin America, Microsoft, Adobe, and Nickelodeon.

Utica National Insurance Group Honored with 2022 Innovation Award by Naviant
NEW HARTFORD, NY; SYRACUSE, N.Y.; VERONA, WI.; ROSEVILLE, CA.; MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, OH; OREM, UT — May 25th, 2022 — Utica National Insurance Group, a top 100 nationally recognized insurer that provides personal and commercial insurance products and services to its customers, headquartered in New Hartford, NY, was honored by Naviant Inc Wednesday morning at the 2022 Naviant Summit for its outstanding achievements in Digital Transformation. Utica National Insurance Group was awarded the 2022 Innovation Award and recognized for the creative and highly successful innovative uses of its OnBase document management solution.
The criteria for the prestigious Innovation Award are based on how the solution has changed the way the organization does business, the return on investment, and the extent to which the organization is using the solution to meet broader organizational goals. Additionally, the award’s criteria consider the level of innovation and creativity present in the organization’s development, use, and vision for the solution.
Utica National Insurance Group, a leading expert in the personal & commercial insurance industry, committed to providing its customers with reliable, excellent service when they need it most, was awarded for its creative, impactful use of the OnBase intelligent process automation solution. Before implementing OnBase, the company’s Claims Department relied on an imaging system with very basic workflow abilities, which required considerable manual intervention. The company was also using a core document software system in tandem with another imaging platform, both of which were several versions behind and had minimal to no vendor support. Together, the systems came with a hefty price tag between licensing and maintenance and posed a critical risk to the company from a legal and operational standpoint.
Today, OnBase has become the backbone for Utica National Insurance Group’s claims department’s document and workflow (FNOL) management. This solution, supplemented with ShareBase and Content Composer Module (CCM), have supported the company in its journey to modernize the overall claims management process. CCM has specifically given the company the flexibility to modify and personalize letters, which has resulted in a great adjuster and customer experience.
On the difference the solutions have made, James Shaver, Claims Technology Program Manager at Utica National Insurance Group, said, “The implementation of the core product (OnBase) and CCM has drastically increased the efficiency and efficacy of the Claims Department.” Of some of the most significant benefits, he remarked, “The reporting dashboards feature has provided insights into inefficiencies and allowed us to further improve our process of queue breakouts and/or roles and groups, and automating the intake and indexing of documents from multiple vendors has reduced the time to get the right document to the right person and reduced operational overheads.”
“We are very excited to be awarding the 2022 Innovation Award to Utica National Insurance Group in recognition of their continued proven ability to find new ways to utilize and optimize their solutions,” said Michael Carr, President & CEO of Naviant. “Naviant is proud to support Utica National Insurance Group’s initiatives and views them as a shining example of digital transformation excellence to inspire all organizations striving for innovative change.”
Looking to the future, Utica National Insurance Group is looking to further modernize and enhance its current setup’s experience. It plans to do so by utilizing the additional offerings of OnBase, like maximizing advanced capture, expanding on their solution’s Web API capabilities, and integrating OnBase with their modern claims management platform to maximize the synergy and benefits across the two.
