Flexible Workspace Pioneer, Spaces, Signs Lease at Gebhardt Building
Lease at Gebhardt Building
Madison, WI (September 10, 2018) – Gebhardt Development announced today that Spaces, the pioneer in creative co-working offerings, has signed a lease for 34,000 square feet in the newly constructed Gebhardt Building located at 811 E. Washington Avenue in Madison. This lease brings the project to 100% occupancy.
The Gebhardt Building is an 8-story mixed-use development reflecting a modern, contemporary industrial aesthetic and totaling nearly 170,000 square feet. The office component of the project is co-anchored by Spaces and Google. The building also boasts a 2,500-person, 45,000 square foot music venue called the Sylvee by Frank Productions and a 7,300 square foot brew pub by Vintage Brewing. The project has multiple outdoor gathering options including rooftop patios and an adjacent street level pocket park and plaza. Ample use of floor to ceiling glass showcases views of the Capitol and lakes afforded by this central Isthmus location.
Spaces, which is set to open in the Gebhardt Building in early 2019, has been specifically designed to meet the needs of a variety of business models and growth stages by offering a wide range of creative, flexible workspace options. The company leased floors 3, 4 and 5 of the building and plans to open their doors in 2019. Spaces was represented by Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) and Gebhardt Development was represented by Key Commercial Real Estate.
“Madison is emerging as a major Midwest technology hub and is consistently ranked as a top small city for fostering talent across the board. It was a natural location choice as we continue our U.S. expansion and the Gebhardt Building proved to be an ideal spot for our debut into the city,” said Michael Berretta, Vice President of Network Development for IWG, which owns Spaces. “It is one of Madison’s most unique collaborative buildings, situated in a vibrant and diverse district.”

SANI-MATIC INC. BREAKS GROUND ON NEW 93,500 SQUARE-FOOT MANUFACTURING AND OFFICE FACILITY
New facility to accommodate growth, increase operational efficiencies and support collaborative culture
MADISON, Wisc., August 23, 2018—Sani-Matic, Inc., a Madison, Wisconsin-based manufacturer of sanitary process cleaning equipment and components, today began a new chapter in its 75-year history with a groundbreaking ceremony commencing construction of the company’s new facility. The move will bring its two facilities under one roof, accommodate ongoing growth, provide operational efficiencies, and enhance the customer experience.
The property for the planned 93,500 square-foot facility is located eight miles from the company’s current facilities in the newly developed Park 151 industrial park in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. It will be the second building developed within the park and is slated for completion in May 2019.
“We have been operating from two facilities for several years to accommodate our ongoing growth, but it isn’t an efficient way to work and doesn’t support our strong collaborative culture,” stated CEO and President Aaron Zell. “As our scalable growth initiatives continue to help us grow, it became clear we needed a new facility to reunite our 160 employees under one roof and accommodate our ever-growing team of experts.”
The property also supports continued growth with space available for expansion.
A facility to inspire learning and innovation
The facility will feature 67,500 square feet of manufacturing space and 26,000 square feet of office space. The office area will include a training classroom and lab, automation and engineering labs for innovation, and dedicated Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) customer rooms that connect to the manufacturing floor.
“We host several trainings for our distributors, manufacturer’s representatives and customers every year,” commented Zell. “We also have many customers visit us to participate in week-long Factory Acceptance Tests. That is why creating an environment that is easy to work in as well as one that encourages learning and inspires innovation was heavily weighted in our planning.”
Selecting a location and community
The facility’s location was carefully chosen for its proximity to the company’s current facility. “The commitment to retaining every employee was top of mind in our choice of property. We didn’t want to lose good employees due to commuting challenges,” said Zell. “We also wanted to remain close to the Dane County airport and the City of Madison for talent recruitment and ease of access for our customers.”
Zell added, “The City of Sun Prairie has been an excellent partner during this process—from site selection to the final approvals needed to proceed. We look forward to becoming an active community partner.”
Sun Prairie city officials share the enthusiasm and desire to develop a strong partnership. “Sani-Matic is a great business to have in Park 151, and their project will be a key anchor in what we anticipate being one of the most attractive business parks in Dane County,” stated Sun Prairie Mayor Paul Esser. “Like Sani-Matic, we are looking for businesses that will bring good jobs with competitive wages to the area as well as be an active partner in the Sun Prairie community. We are excited about their investment here and welcome them to Sun Prairie.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 31, 2018
National architecture-engineering firm opens third Florida office
Mead & Hunt, a national architecture-engineering consulting firm, is opening its third Florida office in Tampa.
The new Tampa office will be the home office for Ed Balchon, who brings more than 25 years of Florida water-wastewater engineering experience to Mead & Hunt. He is joined in Tampa by Todd Knuckey and Dave Schmidgall who will lead the Florida aviation team.
“There are significant and challenging projects in the Tampa Bay and west-central Florida region that are well-aligned with the capabilities of the firm. Opening a Tampa office is another step toward expanding service to Florida clients and offers rewarding consulting opportunities for our employees,” said Balchon, Market Leader for Mead & Hunt’s water practice.
Balchon joined with the purpose of expanding Mead & Hunt’s presence in the region. He will be active in adding staff to address client needs. Further growth is anticipated in the Tampa, Tallahassee and Daytona Beach area offices soon. Pulling from both local and national resources, the Florida team will provide the full range of Mead & Hunt services.
Mead & Hunt established a water-wastewater office in Port Orange in August 2017. In April 2018, the firm established a highway and bridge office in Tallahassee. The Tampa office will initially focus on water-wastewater, infrastructure and aviation services. All three offices are anticipated to add more service lines soon. Mead & Hunt provides clients with expert planning, architecture, engineering, environmental and construction administration services throughout the nation.
“We’ve been looking for the right opportunity to establish another Florida office, and Tampa was my first choice,” said Ron Engel, Vice President and Group Leader of Mead & Hunt Aviation Services. “With a skilled and available workforce and great business community – Tampa was where we needed to be.”
Balchon added to this sentiment, sharing that Mead & Hunt was pursuing opportunities to showcase the firm’s long history of creating innovative engineering solutions with landmark projects.
“We have the depth of senior, skilled personnel with local, Florida experience to address this environmentally-sensitive region,” said Balchon. “The infrastructure needs in Florida are growing rapidly and so is Mead & Hunt, especially in the water-wastewater market.”
The employee-owned consulting firm remains strong on ENR‘s Top 500 design firm list with a national ranking of 139th in 2018. Mead & Hunt was named by CE News as one of the top 10 engineering companies to work for in the nation. The firm employs about 700 employees from 30+ offices located across the nation.
