MAN BOOKER PRIZE-WINNING AUTHOR MARLON JAMES COMING TO MADISON FOR FREE LECTURE 

MADISON – Award-winning author Marlon James will speak at the Madison Central Library on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. about a range of topics, including writing, the Caribbean, race and gender, as part of the Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS) Committee’s free lecture opportunities.

The Jamaican-born author’s books include, “Black Leopard Red Wolf,” “A Brief History of Seven Killings,” “John Crow’s Devil” and “The Book of Night Women.” His work has been called gripping, action-packed, thrilling, intense and epic. 

The WUD DLS Committee is co-sponsoring this lecture with the UW-Madison Center for the Humanities. The lecture is presented in partnership with the Andrew W. Mellon Sawyer Seminar with additional sponsorship support from the Wisconsin Book Festival, the UW-Madison English Department, and the Cyril W. Nave Endowment administered by the Department of Latin American, Caribbean and Iberian Studies at UW-Madison.

Additional speakers during spring 2020 include author and activist Megan Phelps-Roper on Feb. 4, sailor Jerome Rand on Feb. 19, science writer Rebecca Skloot on March 4, civic engagement activist Tiana Epps Johnson on a date to be announced in April as well as a presidential candidates forum March 30 and 31. 

“Marlon James is a fearless, passionate writer, who will speak about perspectives on many important issues and how fiction can put a spotlight on those issues,” said WUD Distinguished Lecture Series Associate Director of Marketing and Outreach Evanka Annyapu. 

The WUD DLS Committee brings engaging and influential people to the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus to encourage thought-provoking conversations. WUD includes 10 committees and six Wisconsin Hoofers clubs that program thousands of events each year.

Ribbon Cutting Party at Resolution Health Collaborative

Celebrate downtown Madison’s newest Fitness Studio at the Resolution Health Collaborative’s Ribbon Cutting Party on Friday, February 7 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Renowned Sports On-air Personalities Steve Czaban and Mike Heller to Lead Program Line up

Madison, Wis. – January 31, 2020 – iHeartMedia Madison announced today the debut of the new 1070 THE GAME, Madison’s Sports Talk That Rocks, effective February 3.

1070 THE GAME will broadcast the latest local sports news and headlines as well as feature shows from top on-air personalities including Steve Czaban, who will lead the program line up from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and Mike Heller, who can be heard on afternoon drive from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Czaban has worked for several major syndicated sports talk networks including Sporting News, ESPN Radio and Fox Sports Radio in his 18-year career as well as in various markets such as  Santa Barbara, California; Chicago; Milwaukee; Charlotte; and Washington, D.C. He is a loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers, which he calls “The Chosen Ones” of the NFL. In his free time, Czaban is an avid golfer.

A fixture in Wisconsin Sports media for more than 30 years, Mike Heller will join 1070 The Game program lineup. One of the original “daily” sports radio hosts on WTSO, Heller has been heard on afternoon-drive for almost two decades and has won numerous Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Awards (WBA) including “Best Show.”  Heller has also been featured nationally since 2012 as a regular guest host on “The Dan Patrick Show” and “The Rich Eisen Show.”

Nate Troyer Promoted to Account Executive at M3

Madison, WI – Nate Troyer, CIC, CPCU was recently promoted to account executive at M3 Insurance. He specializes in property and casualty insurance with a focus on manufacturing & distribution and international exposures. Nate serves as an advisor to his clients, assisting them with the design and implementation of customized coverage solutions and risk management programs.

Nate earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a double major in risk management/insurance and finance, investment and banking, from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2015. He joined the M3 team in June 2014 as an intern and obtained a strong foundation as an M3 account service professional before transitioning to his current position as an account executive.

In addition to his evolving role at M3, Nate currently serves as chair of the Coaches vs. Cancer Associate Board of Ambassadors.
