Habitat for Humanity of Dane County’s Central Campus Grand Opening

Habitat for Humanity of Dane County is proud to announce the grand opening of its new 45,000-square-foot central campus at 6201 Odana Road in Madison.

Formerly the Odana Antiques Mall, the entirely remodeled space will serve as Habitat’s administrative office, ReStore West location, and ReStore warehouse – all under the same roof for the first time ever!

The event will start with a ribbon cutting and Habitat office tours on Thursday, June 29 from 4 – 6 p.m., including a short presentation and appetizers at 5 p.m.

The celebration will continue with ReStore West’s Grand Opening on Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1 with refreshments, coupon offers, and the opportunity to meet Habitat homeowners.

“It’s amazing to be under one roof for the first time. Shoppers can feel good about shopping at the store that builds homes,” explained Habitat CEO Valerie Renk. “Proceeds from our two Madison ReStores fund Habitat homes for families right here in Dane County. When you purchase that great set of kitchen cabinets or a new couch at Habitat ReStore, you are directly impacting a local family. We have always had a deep and direct connection and we are excited to now physically work alongside each other as well.”

In addition to its central campus, Habitat will continue to operate ReStore East on Madison’s east side at 4207 Monona Drive.

A RAINBOW OF TERRACE CHAIRS WILL MAKE A LIMITED-TIME APPEARANCE AT MEMORIAL UNION ON JUNE 21

MADISON – The Wisconsin Union team will bring out a few Terrace chairs in colors not usually seen at Memorial Union, such as blue and purple, to join with yellow, orange and green Terrace chairs near the front steps of Memorial Union on June 21 from 2-5 p.m. in recognition of Pride Month.

The team invites patrons to take photos with the chairs. The rainbow of chairs previously made appearances at the outdoor dining and entertainment destination the Memorial Union Terrace in 2019 and 2022.

The Wisconsin Union team is further celebrating Pride Month by flying a Pride flag at its buildings Union South and Memorial Union throughout June, except June 16-18 during which a Juneteenth flag will be at both buildings. The Wisconsin Union team is also offering free sunburst image Pride buttons at Union South and Memorial Union, while supplies last.

The sunburst design on the more than 2,000 Terrace chairs, including those presented as part of Pride Month and those at the Memorial Union Terrace, is a trademarked image with early versions dating back to the 1930s. The sunburst has become a well-known image that is synonymous with Madison summers.

The Wisconsin Union marketing team has previously created multiple Pride Month computer and phone wallpapers, which can be downloaded for free here.

Recent 2023 Pride Month events included the Wisconsin Union Directorate Film Committee’s two free Lakeside Cinema film showings: “Booksmart” on June 5 and “But I’m a Cheerleader” on June 12.

Patrons can visit the Union’s website to learn more about the Pride Terrace chairs at the Terrace.

Summit Credit Union joins global banking network
Values-based banking supports people, planet and prosperity as shared purpose

MADISON, Wis. — Summit Credit Union announces it has joined the prestigious Global Alliance for Banking on Values organization, an international network of financial services leaders dedicated to global values-based banking.

Founded after the 2008 financial downturn, the 70-member alliance provides a collaborative network for bank leaders in 45 countries looking for strong bottom lines while also addressing climate issues, racial justice, and economic equality.

GABV’s mission supports its belief that banks are not simply intermediaries of money but rather critical agents of change. It points to research that values-based banking also delivers better and more stable returns for the industry.

“Summit is a values-based organization and the GABV mission is an excellent fit for us in moving financial and environmental sustainability forward. We look forward to contributing to the global community of values-based banking for the good of our members and our community,” said Kim Sponem, Summit Credit Union’s CEO and President.

The invitation-only GABV annual meeting in New York City entitled “Banking on a Bolder Future” highlighted the impact that values-based banks have played and the growing importance of mission-aligned institutions in the banking space and beyond.
