National Guardian Life Insurance Company: Michelle Niemec promoted to Vice President, Controller

Madison, Wis. (May 20, 2024) – Michelle Niemec has been promoted to Vice President, Controller at National Guardian Life Insurance Company (NGL). Niemec joined NGL in 2021 as Assistant Vice President, Accounting Policy and has been instrumental in determining the accounting treatment for the sale of various blocks of business over the last several years, as well as managing the relationship with NGL’s external auditors.

Niemec will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, accounting policy, expense analysis and financial planning functions at NGL.

“Michelle has a done an excellent job establishing the accounting policy function and managing our external auditor relationship. She is a collaborative leader with a passion for mentoring staff. Aligning our accounting functions under Michelle will allow us to improve processes and controls, in addition to focusing on employee development opportunities,” said Nancy Stoddard, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer at NGL. “I look forward to continuing to work with her and our entire team as we focus on business excellence.”

Niemec is a CPA who joined NGL with a wealth of experience supporting various organizations in accounting on a statutory, GAAP and IFRS basis. She has a background in public and technical accounting, as well as private equity and strategic transition support.

Niemec holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University.

She also enjoys hiking, mountain biking and spending time with her family.

Kraus-Anderson Madison names Michael Hinderman Director of Operations

MADISON, Wis. (June 2024) – Kraus-Anderson Construction (KA) has named Michael Hinderman as director of operations for the company’s Madison office. In his new position, he will lead the day-to-day operations of the Madison region, including overseeing all construction projects, marketing programs and business development initiatives. 

A 22-year industry veteran, Hinderman joined KA in 2008 as a project manager. In January 2024, he was promoted from senior project manager to project executive, the company’s top project management position.

Hinderman has overseen dozens of projects in numerous building sectors, including healthcare, education, government, office, retail, conference centers and advanced manufacturing facilities. Some of his notable repeat clients include Verizon, Scheels, Cabela’s, Fidelity Investments, Lowes, Room and Board, Kroger-Roundy’s and Pick ‘n Save. Other project highlights include:

–  La Crosse Center – 90,000-square-foot expansion and renovation;

–  Menasha Corporation – 85,000-square-foot manufacturing center in Pelahatchie, Miss.;

–  Kalahari Resorts Hotel – new four-story, 237-unit hotel  and addition at Wisconsin Dells;

–  Memorial Health of Lafayette County – 82,000-square-foot replacement hospital in Darlington, Wis. 

Hinderman is a member of BioForward of Madison, American Institute of Architects of Wisconsin, Downtown Madison Inc., Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce, Smart Growth and Wisconsin Hospital Association. He received an A.A.S. degree in Construction Management and an A.A.S. degree in Construction Technology from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He also holds an ICRA Healthcare Construction Certificate.

Capitol Bank Announces Leadership Promotions

Madison, WI (May 15, 2024): Capitol Bank’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the next phase of its internal leadership transition plan, which reinforces Capitol Bank’s continued growth and support of its customers, businesses, and local organizations.

Promotions effective July 1st, 2024:

Ken Thompson will transition from CEO to Executive Chairman of the Board.
Justin Hart will succeed Ken Thompson as Capitol Bank’s third Chief Executive Officer.
Ami Myrland will be promoted to President and Chief Financial Officer.

Thompson had this to say:

Our customers value relationship-focused leadership and consistency, so I take great pride in this transition of Bank leadership to two outstanding bankers who I’ve worked with so closely over the years. Justin Hart has been with Capitol Bank since 2007 and has held leadership positions including Senior Lender and Bank President. As CEO, Justin will continue his predecessor’s work to support Capitol Bank’s vision to be the most trusted community Bank where relationships drive success. Justin holds a B.S. in Finance, an MBA and is a graduate from UW’s Graduate School of Banking. He currently serves on the boards of directors for American Family Children’s Hospital and Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin.

Ami Myrland joined Capitol Bank as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2019 and has more than 20 years of banking experience. In her role as President, Ami will retain CFO responsibilities and focus on the areas of retail, finance, marketing, technology, risk management, and human resources. Ami holds a B.S. in Accounting and Finance and is a graduate from UW’s Graduate School of Banking. She currently serves on the FHLB of Chicago Member Advisory Committee and on the boards of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Wisconsin Bankers Foundation. Ami was named CFO of the Year by InBusiness Magazine in 2023.

Lake Ridge Bank Announces Joanne Bell as Executive Assistant to Both President and CEO as DiFulvio Retires

May 13, 2024 (MADISON, Wis.) – Lake Ridge Bank is pleased to announce an expanded role for Joanne Bell as Executive Assistant for both Chief Executive Officer Jim Tubbs and President Paul Hoffmann, as well as handling the bank’s shareholder services.

Bell’s increased responsibilities reflects her exceptional service in this capacity for Hoffmann over the last six years. Lake Ridge Bank expanded her position to assist both bank leaders after Tubbs’ executive assistant, Tami DiFulvio, announced her retirement in early March to care for a loved one. DiFulvio also served as Secretary to the Lake Ridge Bank Board of Directors.

As part of her announcement, DiFulvio shared her thoughts about spending more than 16 years at the bank, saying, “I am so thankful to have worked for an institution and direct leader who appreciated what I brought to the team every day. It has truly been a joy to work alongside Jim Tubbs and the entire executive team at Lake Ridge Bank to serve families, businesses, and communities throughout Southern Wisconsin. I have met so many amazing, thoughtful, service-minded people during my time there.”
