DeWitt Promotes Three Attorneys to Partner
MADISON|MILWAUKEE|MINNEAPOLIS – DeWitt LLP announced today that it has promoted Chase Horne, Julie Nagorski and Raluca (Luca) Vais-Ottosen to Partner.
Horne, of DeWitt’s Madison office, practices in the areas of litigation and environmental law. He has represented clients in a wide variety of cases, ranging from business and shareholder disputes, to construction disputes and personal injury matters. In his practice, Horne has developed substantial trial experience when jury trials are becoming increasingly rare, including multiple jury trials in state and federal courts. Horne also counsels business clients regarding employment issues, such as employee handbooks, wage practices, non-compete agreements, and terminations. He earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and B.A. from Wake Forest University.
Nagorski, of the firm’s Minneapolis office, has significant experience litigating disputes in numerous areas of the law, with a focus in real property and construction disputes. In addition to her substantial litigation experience, Nagorski has taken many cases through jury and bench trials and has argued multiple cases in front of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Nagorski represents all types of clients, from businesses, to trusts, to families and individuals, with a far-reaching range of needs. She earned her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Raluca Vais-Ottosen, of the firm’s Madison office, focuses her practice on U.S. immigration and nationality law. She has assisted numerous clients with immigration matters ranging from family-based and individual immigration applications, to employment-based visas, permanent residence (green card), and U.S. citizenship. Originally from Romania, Vais-Ottosen utilized her personal experience as an immigrant to develop a special interest in Immigration Law. She also has an extensive background in Employment Law. She assists companies in several areas, including claims of workplace discrimination, harassment and retaliation, and termination and constructive discharge, among others. She earned her law degree from Spiru Haret University Law School – Romania, L.L.M. from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center and B.S. from Petru Rares National College – Romania.

Jennifer Myers Promoted to Account Executive
Madison, WI – Jennifer Myers has been promoted to Account Executive at M3 Insurance. Specializing in employee benefits, Jennifer’s evolving role at M3 will have her coordinating ongoing service for clients to ensure that their coverage meets their needs. She will also consult with and advise clients about the design, implementation and management of their benefit programs based on their current and future needs.
Jennifer joined M3 in 2011 as an Account Manager. Prior to M3, she held several account management and project management positions in various industries as well as owning and operating her own business. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies and broadcast journalism from University of Northern Iowa and is a Wisconsin licensed life and health insurance agent.
In her free time, Jennifer teaches Junior Achievement classes at Chavez Elementary and volunteers as a youth basketball coach.

Alliant Energy announces leadership changes
John Larsen, Terry Kouba and David de Leon promoted
MADISON, Wis. – December 17, 2018 – As part of the company’s succession planning efforts, the Alliant Energy Corporation (NYSE:LNT) Board of Directors made the following leadership appointments, effective January 1, 2019:
- John O. Larsen as president and chief operating officer of Alliant Energy and chief executive officer of Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL) and Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL)
- Terry L. Kouba as president – IPL and senior vice president – Alliant Energy
- David A. de Leon as president – WPL and senior vice president – Alliant Energy
These changes follow the announcement by Douglas R. Kopp, president of IPL and senior vice president of Alliant Energy, of his intent to retire. Kopp has been with Alliant Energy for more than 26 years. His retirement date will be set in the first half of 2019.
“Doug has been central to the customer-focused transformations at Alliant Energy, from plant modernization to environmental strategy to our renewable buildout,” said Patricia Kampling, chairman and CEO of Alliant Energy. “We thank Doug for his many years of effective, authentic leadership, and we wish him the best in his retirement.”
Mr. Larsen will oversee all Alliant Energy utility operations as president and chief operating officer. Larsen continues to take positions of increasing responsibility at the company and was appointed president of Alliant Energy in 2018. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president of Alliant Energy from February 2014 to December 2017 and as senior vice president of generation from January 2010 to February 2014. He has served as president of Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL) since 2010.
Mr. Kouba will replace Mr. Kopp as IPL’s president. Kouba has served as vice president of generation operations for the company since 2014, and director of generation operations since 2011. He has served in various engineering, operations and customer service positions at Alliant Energy and its predecessors since 1983.
Mr. de Leon will replace Larsen as WPL’s president. De Leon has served as vice president of operations for the company since 2017, director of generation construction since 2016 and director of construction since 2011. He has served in various engineering and operations positions at Alliant Energy and its predecessors since 1987.
“These leadership changes recognize John’s success in setting our vision and executing our strategy. Continued strong leadership is central to our success at Alliant Energy,” said Kampling. “Terry and David are well-respected and have a proven record of leading utility operations. They are ideally equipped to work with John to lead our utilities into the future.”

New President & Chief Executive Officer selected to lead NGL
Madison, Wis. (November 19, 2018) – The Board of Directors for National Guardian Life Insurance Company (NGL) selected Knut A. Olson as its next President and CEO, effective January 3, 2019, succeeding Mark L. Solverud who announced his retirement for the end of April 2019.
“The Board conducted a nationwide search and established specific criteria to identify a leader who could build upon NGL’s growth, financial strength and connection with its customers and marketing partners. Olson is eminently qualified and has an outstanding reputation in the insurance industry. His many accomplishments and experience will provide NGL with strong leadership to guide us into the future,” stated David G. Walsh, Chairman of the Board.
Most recently, Olson was President of the North American Life and Annuity Division of Foresters Financial, and President of Foresters Life Insurance and Annuity Company, where he oversaw Forester’s life insurance business in the U.S. and Canada and also had responsibility over annuities, investment products and insurance operations.
Prior to Foresters he worked at Thrivent Financial for more than 25 years, beginning as an insurance agent and advancing to General Agent, Managing Partner, Divisional Vice President, and then to the home office position of Chief Distribution Officer and ultimately Senior Vice President of Mission Advancement.
“I share the values that drive NGL’s mission and am impressed with the company’s past achievements. While remaining committed to its primary markets and policyholders, the Board is looking to expand NGL’s marketing and product focus in order to continue its path of growth. I have a background and passion for that challenge, and I look forward to working with the Board and management staff toward that goal,” said Olson.
