Capitol Bank Announces New Hires
Madison, WI: Ken Thompson, President and CEO of Capitol Bank, is pleased to announce three new hires: Heather Flood (Assistant Vice President of Deposit Operations), Natalie (Braun) Gregerson (Director of Marketing) and Briel Kohl (Portfolio Manager).
Heather Flood has 24 years of banking experience in Dane County making her well-respected in the industry. Her experience ranges from relationship banking and customer service, to branch management and deposit operations management. She is a native of Whitewater, Wisconsin and currently resides in Evansville. She earned a Bachelor of Letters & Science/English literature from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Heather spends time with her family at school functions and sports activities, as well as attending various events in the local and greater Madison communities.
Natalie Gregerson brings five years of experience from the technology and construction sectors, where she worked for national and international companies. Natalie’s broad skillset includes a commercial drone pilot license. She is a native of northern Iowa and now resides in Southwest Wisconsin. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a Bachelor of Communications/Public Relations with a minor in social media. Relatively new to the Madison market, Natalie is eager to become an active member of the community and has already supported local events, such as The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®.
Briel Kohl adds four years of commercial and retail banking knowledge to the already talented and diverse Commercial Lending Group at Capitol Bank. Briel’s banking experience includes credit analysis, treasury management marketing and portfolio management. She is a native of Wisconsin and currently resides in Baraboo. She has degrees in International Business, Accounting and Management from Upper Iowa University, where she also played soccer and spent time studying abroad. Briel is active in the local area, including organizations such as Baraboo Young Professionals and Baraboo Kiwanis.

Jesse Roberts Promoted to Business Development Executive at M3
Madison, WI – Jesse Roberts has been promoted to the position of Business Development Executive at M3 Insurance. Based in the Madison office, Jesse educates the business community about M3 offerings including insurance and risk management, employee benefits, and employer-sponsored retirement plans. He further assists customers and prospects during the sales process, presenting solutions and matching them with the appropriate service team to address their unique business insurance needs.
Jesse joined M3 as part of the pilot group of the M3YOU program in 2016 and, demonstrating strengths aligning with the business development team, moved into the role of a Business Development Specialist in January of 2017. From that role, Jesse quickly grew into the capacity of his newly appointed position as a Business Development Executive.

Nancy Maloy joins NGL as Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary
Madison, Wis. (September 10, 2018) – National Guardian Life Insurance Company (NGL), a mutual insurance company located in Madison, Wis., announced the appointment of Nancy Maloy as Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary. Maloy will oversee all actuarial activities for NGL, including business development, pricing, valuation, forecasting and liability management.

Frank Gumina named Chief Legal Officer at WPS
MADISON, Wis.—Sept. 6, 2018—Frank Gumina is the new Chief Legal Officer at WPS Health Solutions. He succeeds Dan Schwandt, who was named Chief of Staff while continuing his role as Chief Governance Officer.
Prior to joining WPS, Gumina worked in the private practice of law for over 27 years serving corporate clients in a vast array of legal matters with particular focus in the health care market. For a number of years, Gumina held an executive management position in one of Wisconsin’s largest law firms and, prior to joining WPS, was a partner at Husch Blackwell in Milwaukee.
Gumina is a graduate of the Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee. He has been a guest presenter at the State Bar of Wisconsin and Marquette University Law School and School of Business.
He serves on the Board of Directors for Tomorrow’s Children, a Wisconsin-based residential care center for children. He is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Defense Research Institute, Society for Human Resources Management, and State Bar of Wisconsin (Health Law and Labor/Employment Sections).

Hunter and Mastronardi join WPS Board of Directors
MADISON, Wis.—August 23, 2018—Christine Hunter, M.D., and Nick Mastronardi, Ph.D., have been elected to the Board of Directors for Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation, doing business as WPS Health Solutions.
Dr. Hunter recently retired from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, where she served as Medical Director for the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program since 2011. While in that role, she was Co-Chairman of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Committee on Performance Measurement and contributed to the design of new federal insurance offerings.
Dr. Hunter developed a distinguished career in the Navy with expertise in direct delivery, health system, health plan, and insurance operations. She attained the rank of Rear Admiral in 2005.
From 2009 to 2011, Dr. Hunter served as Deputy Director of TRICARE Management Activity, coordinating health care for 9.6 million military beneficiaries.
She was Commanding Officer of the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California, from 2007 to 2009.
From 2004 to 2006, Dr. Hunter was Chief of Staff for the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Washington, D.C. She was responsible for setting strategic priorities and directing the work of 40,000 military medical professionals worldwide.
Dr. Hunter earned her medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Mastronardi is an accomplished economist, presidential policy analyst, and entrepreneur. He is founder and Chief Executive Officer of POLCO, a Madison-based firm specializing in advanced policy polling and civic analytics.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Mastronardi served on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. He also was a Senior Economist with Amazon.
Much of Dr. Mastronardi’s career has been devoted to military service. From 2004 to 2014, he was an active-duty officer in the Air Force, reaching the rank of Major. Since 2014, he has been an officer in the Air Force Reserve, working with the U.S. Cyber Command and in emerging technologies and data science.
From 2009 to 2014, Dr. Mastronardi was an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Air Force Academy where he taught game theory, microeconomics, quantitative finance, econometrics, and statistics.
He also served as an Economic and Security Analyst in the Office of Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon. Earlier in his military career, he was a Research Physicist and Program Manager with the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Dr. Mastronardi earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Notre Dame, and a doctorate in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
