Kraus-Anderson opens Milwaukee office to meet construction growth in SE Wisconsin

Mike Timmers named director of operations

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (July 2021) – Kraus-Anderson Construction, one of the nation’s premier general contractors and construction managers, is expanding its footprint, opening a new office in Milwaukee.  The company has named Mike Timmers as director of operations.  A location for the Milwaukee office has not yet been secured.

Kraus-Anderson’s (KA) long history of construction projects in East-Southeast Wisconsin and the Milwaukee- Chicago region dates back to the 1950s and 60s when it built Bayshore Shopping Center in Milwaukee; grocery stores for Red Owl (with multiple Wisconsin and Chicago area locations), and facilities for companies from Wisconsin Foods (Sturgeon Bay) to Bankers Mutual Life (Freeport, Ill).

In recent years, KA has delivered an array of notable projects for a range of commercial and government sector markets in the region. Projects include renovation of the FBI Field Office, Milwaukee; a tenant buildout for Strang Architects in Madison, which is Wisconsin’s first WELL-Certified project; and Monarch Health in Madison, an addiction recovery clinic offering a model for opioid addiction treatment that is a first of its kind. KA has also performed multiple projects for repeat clients, including Room and Board, Pick ‘n Save, Scheels, Cabela’s, Fidelity Investments, Verizon, Lowes, Wilde Automotive, Home Run Auto Group and Lupient Automotive Group. Current projects in the area include an adaptive reuse project for Winston-Knolls Schools, a school serving students with autism in Elgin, Ill.

“We’re aiming to strengthen our southeast Wisconsin presence,” said Tom Roepke, Kraus-Anderson’s Wisconsin area director. “With the addition of a Milwaukee office, we see opportunity for huge growth in the southeast Wisconsin region. KA’s expertise in healthcare, schools, commercial markets, and our unique strengths in preconstruction and facilities assessment, are all well aligned to offer strong value to clients across multiple market sectors.”

Mike Timmers

A 21-year industry veteran, Timmers has overseen a spectrum of area commercial markets and scopes ranging from modest to multi-million-dollar projects. He most recently served as director of operations at Milwaukee-based Greenfire Management Services and was a project manager for Briohn Building Corp. and Miron Construction.  He received his B.S. in Construction Engineering and Management from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

“Mike brings to Kraus-Anderson extensive project management experience, leadership expertise and depth of knowledge of the regional market,” said Roepke.  “We are excited to have him lead our Milwaukee team.”
